Custom, Headless or WordPress? Choosing the right CMS
CMS
Choosing a CMS isn’t about trends or buzzwords, it’s about aligning tools with real operational needs. Over time, we’ve worked with all types of clients: some wanted full control, others just wanted to feel safe managing their content without needing to call a developer every time.

what we’ve learned from experience:
- WordPress: A reliable choice for teams that need a simple, familiar solution they can manage independently. It’s widely adopted, well-documented and offers a low barrier to entry, even for non-technical users. For content-heavy sites that don’t require deep technical customization, it remains one of the most accessible and supportable options. For marketing-heavy sites or brand platforms without deep technical requirements, WordPress is still one of the best options out there.
- Headless CMS (e.g. Strapi, Contentful): Excellent when you want maximum flexibility, for example, when your content needs to be reused across mobile apps, external platforms or multiple websites. But that power comes with added complexity and clients should be ready to work with a more technical setup.
- Fully custom CMS: Rare, but justified when your business has highly specific workflows, security constraints or integration logic that off-the-shelf systems can’t handle. We only build custom CMSs when there’s a real operational case behind them.
At One Percenter, we don't prescribe, we co-decide. We ask the right questions early, look at what the client team really needs to manage and recommend a solution that won’t create future bottlenecks. CMS is not just a tech choice, it's a daily operational tool. And our job is to make sure it serves you long after launch. We emphasize clarity in administration, real costs and long-term viability.
